Yeti UL Ultralight Reserve
The Gin Yeti UL is the reserve for pilots who count every gram. Gin developed a completely new rescue concept for this — the planar rescue — which uses anti-billow rib technology to dramatically reduce canopy billow and increase projected area by 30% over a conventional square reserve. The result is outstanding sink rates from a smaller, lighter, more packable package than anything that came before it.
At just 0.99kg in the M size and 2,475cm³ packed volume, the Yeti UL is genuinely the lightest and most compact certified reserve available. For hike and fly pilots where every gram carried uphill is a gram that has to be earned, this matters enormously.
Opening characteristics are excellent — the lightweight fabric, canopy profile design, and packing procedure all contribute to a rapid and smooth deployment. Descent stability is equally impressive. Gin took extra care during development to optimise air channelling and prevent drifting during descent, which means you have more control over where you're going after deployment than with many other reserves.
The Yeti UL is rated 10/10 for hike and fly and 10/10 for leisure flying by Gin — and 0/10 for tandem, so this is strictly a single pilot reserve. Certified EN 12491:2015 across all three sizes. Maximum load is 85kg for the S, 100kg for the M, and 120kg for the L.
