PARAGLIDING LESSONS AND TANDEMS

BEWARE OF SHORTCUTS

I’ve seen the best and the worst of instruction! Once you know what you’re looking at, you will see details that will inevitably lead to undesirable outcomes. Many instructors fly students off of the Training Hill in harnesses without ANY back protection. This means that if the student does something in error or if a thermal gust comes along, that the student will have a hard landing with virtually zero protection for their spine.

The worst injuries in Paragliding are broken backs. So why do qualified instructors who should know better do this?

Sadly, they are just trying to save a little bit of money in buying a cheaper harness. You’ll notice that some of these harnesses look really old too, like the instructor could care less about having quality gear for first time pilots. This is really no way to treat newcomers to the sport and unflightworthy equipment plus sloppy methods get people hurt!

Unfortunately, it doesn’t end there. I witness some instructors actually pushing students off of the launch when they don’t yet have the skills to do it for themselves. They feel pressure to get the student flying when the student hasn’t progressed as quickly as the instructor thinks they should.

Do they really care about the wellbeing of their students or are they more concerned about their perceived reputation for having a quick training program?

In addition, some instructors don’t even use radios to help students through their first few flights. They choose instead to shout at them from several hundred feet away and then wonder why the student didn’t comply with commands.

That’s just silly! The student is laying on the ground in a heap of gear wondering what went wrong while their instructor is yelling at them from a hilltop in front of everyone about what they should have done. Too little, too late.

Even a cheap $30 radio could have prevented all of those issues including the pointless embarrassment, unnecessary injuries, and hard landings.

It’s our goal to create a new standard for Paragliding Flight Instruction! We have top quality equipment, well thought out teaching methods, and proper communication protocols. If you take an extra few days to master a skill or subject, that is totally okay. That’s why we have the Unlimited Lessons package.

We’re going to treat you like family because that’s the kind of relationship you would expect from anyone who says they care about your life, progress, and safety. Don’t be a victim of instructors who have learned to cut corners to save time and money for themselves.

You are worth so much more than that.

My Promise to YOU!

YOU WON'T FIND A BETTER FLIGHT TRAINING PROGRAM IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AND THAT'S BECAUSE WE'RE COMMITTED TO THE BIGGER PICTURE. WE'RE HERE TO ESTABLISH A NEW STANDARD FOR OUR SPORT AND TO CREATE A COMMUNITY OF LIKE-MINDED ADVENTURERS!

You also won't find us pushing students off of the launch before they're ready just to hurry them through to the next step! We treat our students like family and so you won't find us yelling at anyone either but rather taking the time to explain a topic in another, more understandable fashion.

Impatient and disrespectful instructors are a student's worst nightmare and that's not how learning to fly should happen. All of our focus is on creating an environment which facilitates learning and we are constantly looking for ways to add more value into the program.

Everyone is different and we will all have a different learning curve as well. That's why we maintain a Student Area with a Video Archive so that students can review important topics without having to remember everything they're told from day one!

Join our flock and see for yourself what compassionate instruction looks like. We want you to be your very best and reach those dreams you've had since you were a child.
